By THE MIDWOOD ARGUS

We asked, and the Midwood community answered: Cinnamon Toast Crunch is America’s #1 cereal, followed closely by Froot Loops, with Cocoa Puffs rounding out the top three.

These are the results of a poll that was sent out to Midwood students this October. The 211 respondents were asked to name up to three of their favorite cereals so that the Argus could crown an official breakfast champ for 2024.

Coming in first was Cinnamon Toast Crunch, making 32% of students’ lists.

Maya Itskovich ‘26 said, “The combination of cinnamon and sugar is super tasty and gives it that ‘dessert for breakfast’ vibe without it being too overpowering. Plus, the leftover milk absorbs the cinnamon and sugar, creating a sweet, flavorful finish.”

Froot Loops took second place, bringing some vibrant color to 29% of students’ bowls, and Cocoa Puffs scooped up a sweet 25%, good for third. Honey Nut Cheerios and Lucky Charms (24% each) and Frosted Flakes (22%) also performed strongly.

Lori Miller ‘26 recounted the life lessons she learned from eating Lucky Charms. She said, “Picking out the marshmallows from Lucky Charms was when I realized how we only choose to value the part of life that makes us feel content, instead of the entire picture that helps us grow as people.”

With less flavor but more nutrition, classic donut-shaped Cheerios came next at 19%. After that, there was a steep drop-off.

Over 20 best-selling options were included on the poll’s options, and respondents could also write in their own candidates.

Sadly, there were a few cereals that didn’t make anyone’s list. So the next time you’re in the supermarket, you can offer your condolences to Golden Grahams and Count Chocula, each of which received zero votes in our poll.
